Volume 1 centres on Swami Vivekananda's landmark addresses at the World's Parliament of Religions in Chicago, September 1893, where his opening words 'Sisters and Brothers of America' electrified a crowd of seven thousand and introduced Vedanta and Hinduism to the Western world. It also contains his systematic treatises Karma Yoga and Raja Yoga, both delivered as lecture series in New York during 1895-96, which remain foundational texts of modern yoga philosophy.
